Chapter 17—The Cross Gave Death Stroke to Satan
He [Christ] died on the cross to give the death-stroke to Satan, and
to take away the sin of every believing soul.—
Manuscript 61, 1903
.
What right had Christ to take the captives out of the enemy’s hands?
The right of having made a sacrifice that satisfies the principles of
justice by which the kingdom of heaven is governed. He came to this

Manuscript 44, 1901
.

the sublime prediction, “Now shall the prince of this world be cast
out. And I, if I be lifted up, shall draw all men unto me,” He saw
