Evangelism
rather by the unction of His Spirit than by the training of literary insti-
tutions. Men of faith and prayer will be constrained to go forth with
holy zeal, declaring the words which God gives them. The sins of
Babylon will be laid open. The fearful results of enforcing the obser-
vances of the church by civil authority, the inroads of Spiritualism, the
stealthy but rapid progress of the papal power,—all will be unmasked.
By these solemn warnings the people will be stirred. Thousands upon
thousands will listen who have never heard words like these.—

Great Controversy, 606

Multitudes Will Join the Armies of the Lord—Many ... will be
seen hurrying hither and thither, constrained by the Spirit of God to
bring the light to others. The truth, the Word of God, is as a fire in
their bones, filling them with a burning desire to enlighten those who
sit in darkness. Many, even among the uneducated, now proclaim the
words of the Lord. Children are impelled by the Spirit to go forth and
declare the message from heaven. The Spirit is poured out upon all
who will yield to its promptings, and, casting off all man’s machinery,
his binding rules and cautious methods, they will declare the truth with
the might of the Spirit’s power. Multitudes will receive the faith and
join the armies of the Lord.—

will be wrought, the sick will be healed, and signs and wonders will
follow the believers. Satan also works with lying wonders, even bring-
ing down fire from heaven in the sight of men. Thus the inhabitants of

the earth will be brought to take their stand.
The message will be carried not so much by argument as by the
deep conviction of the Spirit of God. The arguments have been pre-
sented. The seed has been sown, and now it will spring up and bear
fruit. The publications distributed by missionary workers have exerted
their influence, yet many whose minds were impressed have been pre-
vented from fully comprehending the truth or from yielding obedience.
Now the rays of light penetrate everywhere, the truth is seen in its
clearness, and the honest children of God sever the bands which have
held them. Family connections, church relations, are powerless to stay
them now. Truth is more precious than all besides. Notwithstanding
