character the attributes of God. The glory of the Lord was expressed
in his face. The beauty of holiness which had transformed him shone
with a Christlike radiance from his countenance. In adoration and love
he beheld the Saviour until likeness to Christ and fellowship with Him
became his one desire, and in his character was reflected the character
of his Master.
“Behold,” he said, “what manner of love the Father hath bestowed
upon us, that we should be called the sons of God.... Beloved, now
are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be:
but we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we
shall see Him as He is.”
