Many Lines of Work

themselves, when the truth is presented, to see whether or not these

things are so. Christ has said, “Search the Scriptures; for in them

ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of Me.”

Jesus, the world’s Redeemer, bids men not only to read, but to “search

the Scriptures.” This is a great and important work, and it is committed

to us, and in doing this we shall be greatly benefited; for obedience

to Christ’s command will not go unrewarded. He will crown with

especial tokens of His favor this act of loyalty in following the light

        revealed in His Word.—

        Canvassing

The Lord calls upon our youth to labor as canvassers and evange-

lists, to do house-to-house work in places that have not yet heard the

truth. He speaks to our young men, saying, “Ye are not your own; for

ye are bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body, and

in your spirit, which are God’s.” Those who will go forth to the work

         [221]

under God’s direction will be wonderfully blessed.—

One of the very best ways in which young men can obtain a fitness

for the ministry is by entering the canvassing field. Let them go into

towns and cities to canvass for the books which contain the truth for

this time. In this work they will find opportunity to speak the words

of life, and the seeds of truth they sow will spring up to bear fruit. By

meeting the people and presenting to them our publications, they will

gain an experience that they could not gain by preaching....

All who desire an opportunity for true ministry, and who will give

themselves unreservedly to God, will find in the canvassing work op-

portunity to speak upon many things pertaining to the future immortal

        life.—

        Teaching

The very best talent that can be secured is needed to educate and

mould the minds of the young, and to carry on successfully the many

lines of work that will need to be done by the teacher in our church

        schools....
