The people’s anger had already been aroused, and when Elijah gave
the command, “Seize the prophets of Baal! Do not let one of them es-
cape!” they were ready to obey. They took them to the brook Kishon,
and there, before the close of the day that marked the beginning of
decisive reform, the ministers of Baal were killed.
