Angels in the Great Hereafter
207
There are mysteries in the plan of redemption ... that are to the
heavenly angels subjects of continual amazement. The apostle Peter,
speaking of the revelations given to the prophets of “the sufferings
of Christ, and the glory that should follow,” says that these are things
which “the angels desire to look into.”—

The redeemed throng will range from world to world, and much of
their time will be employed in searching out the mysteries of redemp-
tion. And throughout the whole stretch of eternity, this subject will be
continually opening to their minds.—

.
The science of redemption is the science of all sciences; the sci-
ence that is the study of the angels and of all the intelligences of the
unfallen worlds; the science that engages the attention of our Lord and
Saviour; the science that enters into the purpose brooded in the mind
of the Infinite...; the science that will be the study of God’s redeemed
throughout endless ages.—

God’s wonderful purpose of grace, the mystery of redeeming love,
is the theme into which “angels desire to look,” and it will be their
study throughout endless ages. Both the redeemed and the unfallen
beings will find in the cross of Christ their science and their song. It
will be seen that the glory shining in the face of Jesus is the glory of
self-sacrificing love. In the light from Calvary it will be seen that the
[299]
law of self-renouncing love is the law of life for earth and heaven; that
the love which “seeketh not her own” has its source in the heart of
God; and that in the meek and lowly One is manifested the character of
Him who dwelleth in the light which no man can approach unto.—

And the years of eternity, as they roll, will bring richer and still
more glorious revelations of God and of Christ. As knowledge is
progressive, so will love, reverence, and happiness increase. The more
men learn of God, the greater will be their admiration of His character.
As Jesus opens before them the riches of redemption, and the amazing
achievements in the great controversy with Satan, the hearts of the
ransomed thrill with more fervent devotion, and with more rapturous
joy they sweep the harps of gold; and ten thousand times ten thousand
and thousands of thousands of voices unite to swell the mighty chorus
of praise.
