Testimonies to Ministers and Gospel Workers
the Sabbath, we show that we recognize God as the living God, the
Creator of heaven and earth.
There is nothing in the Sabbath that restricts it to any particular
class of people. It was given for all mankind. It is to be employed,
not in indolence, but in the contemplation of the works of God. This
[137]
men are to do that they may “know that I am the Lord that sanctify
them.”
The Lord draws very nigh to His people on the day that He
has blessed and sanctified. “The heavens declare the glory of God;
and the firmament showeth His handiwork. Day unto day uttereth
speech, and night unto night showeth knowledge.” The Sabbath is
God’s memorial, pointing men to their Creator, who made the world
and all things that are therein. In the everlasting hills, in the lofty
trees, in every opening bud and blooming flower, we may behold
the work of the great Master Artist. All speak to us of God and His

The followers of Christ are of another class altogether. “But ye
know Him; for He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not
leave you comfortless: I will come to you. Yet a little while, and the
world seeth Me no more; but ye see Me: because I live, ye shall live
also.” “He that hath My commandments, and keepeth them, he it is
that loveth Me: and he that loveth Me shall be loved of My Father,
and I will love him, and will manifest Myself to him.” “If a man love
[138]
Me, he will keep My words: and My Father will love him, and We
will come unto him, and make Our abode with him. He that loveth
Me not keepeth not My sayings: and the word which ye hear is not
Mine, but the Father’s which sent Me.” The word of a human being
is not to be received and believed without question. We must first
